Authorities continue to promote Chinese law in eastern Tibet

Authorities have built four new centres for law with bilingual legal trainers in the Chinese-named Garze Autonomous Prefecture.

Authorities claimed on 23 November to have improved legal literacy through a service which does various types of legal training including online lectures, state media has reported.

Four new centres for law have been built with bilingual legal trainers in Kardze ( Chinese:Garze Autonomous Prefecture), including a centre in Dartsedo (Ch: Kangding), Nyenrong (Ch: Xinlong) and Payul (Ch: Baiyu) counties.

As part of the programme, 1,057 judicial assistants proficient in Chinese and Tibetan language have carried out lectures in monasteries and 1,322 Chinese law propaganda billboards have been placed in villages throughout the prefecture.

In-person presentations have also been carried out to train Tibetans  in the Chinese Constitution, Civil Code and the National Security Law.

There have also  been 1,785 law education activities including anti underworld force's criminal activities covering almost half a million people.

An official state website said 30,000 monks and nuns have been given legal knowledge exams by the Justice Department of Tibet Autonomous Region, the United Front Work Department and the Religious Bureau of the TAR in collaboration.
