CCP calls for fight against separatism in Tibet

Chinese minister tells Tibetans to deepen the struggle against separatism.

Chinese State Councilor and the minister of Public Security, Zhao Kezhi, visited regions in eastern Tibet from 19 September to 21 September 2020.

During his visit, he asked Tibetans to “study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Seventh Central Tibet Work Forum.”

He added: “We must fully understand the severity and complexity of the struggle against separatism, resolutely overcome blindly optimistic thinking and paralysis…”

The Chinese minister stated that Tibetans must deepen the struggle against separatism, strive to maintain social stability and ensure the implementation of the major decisions and deployments of the Party’s Central committee.

Similarly, CCP Politburo standing committee member, Wang Yang, and United Front Minister, You Quan, visited eastern Tibet this month as well. Wang Yang also visited the Tibetan regions of Lhasa and Shigaste previously in July.

The sequence of visits from senior CCP figures to Tibet indicates a continuation of the CCP’s recent re-emphasis on “fighting separatism”
